- What is your role at EXP?
As the UX/Digital Director at EXP, I head the digital side of the business and lead all digital projects, from conception to completion. I have specialisms in UX/UI Design, Accessibility and User Acceptance Testing.
When not working on projects, I run the day-to-day tasks within the business alongside Tom.
- How would you describe yourself in three words?
Curious, Systematic and Innovative
- What has been your favourite project that you have worked on at EXP?
I’d probably say Farrell Heyworth. This project had it all; design systems, custom CRM integrations, bespoke website, brand updates and product development.
- What’s one thing you’ve learned at EXP that will stay with you throughout your career?
Always trust your gut. Not every project or client will be the right fit. It’s far more important to work with someone who has aligned values, vision and the same desired outcomes.
- What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever received?
If you have to think about it twice you probably shouldn’t do it.
- How do you stay creatively inspired in your work?
It might sound counter-intuitive, but spending time out of work. My best ideas come when visiting new places, connecting with nature, and trying new experiences.
- If you could ignite change in one area of the industry, what would it be and why?
If I could ignite change in one area of our industry, I’d focus on bridging the gap between academic design education and industry practice.
In my opinion, there’s a significant disconnect between what’s taught in schools and universities and the rapidly evolving design industry. While academia is great at teaching the fundamentals, it often lags in other areas, especially in the digital sector.
- What’s one thing people might not know about you?
I’m also a qualified nutritionist and love to cook.
- What is, in your opinion, the ultimate work snack?
I’m a sucker for pistachio butter on rice cakes
- If you could swap lives with any fictional character for a day, who would it be, and why?
James Bond. Fighting villains, driving fast cars and dating hot women. Enough said.
