Brand strategy & identity for a new chapter of cleanroom solutions

Established in 2003, Connect 2 Cleanrooms is a leading provider of cleanroom solutions for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and healthcare businesses. It was acquired by US-based Angstrom Technology in 2022 where it was merged into its business under the same name.

Following a shift in its business strategy, plans were made to reintroduce Connect 2 Cleanrooms to the market as a standalone brand. To help Connect 2 Cleanrooms enter its new chapter, we were brought in to develop its brand strategy, positioning, identity, tone of voice, assets, and website, ready for relaunch.

Approach

Cleanrooms are highly technical facilities that create regulated environments to prevent contamination of sensitive products and processes by minimising airborne particles and other contaminants.

They’re used in a wide range of sectors, including pharmaceuticals, semiconductor manufacturing, aerospace, medical device production, food processing, and biological research.

Our research revealed a sector inundated with technical jargon that can be challenging to navigate, even for the most experienced professionals.

We identified a niche in the market for a Cleanroom brand that focuses on simplicity – utilising simple design and human language that appeals to both those with 5 months or 5 years of experience.

A key challenge was striking a balance between preserving the heritage of Connect 2 Cleanrooms from 2003 whilst not taking a step backwards.

While it was a return to the company’s roots, it marked a significant new phase for the company, where it would operate as its own standalone brand once again. As a result, its brand needed to be distinctive to stand out in a highly competitive market, as well as against its parent company.

The new identity and positioning also needed to instil confidence across multiple audiences, including employees, customers, and prospective clients, catering to both those looking at their very first cleanroom and industry experts.

Positioning and Tone

We wanted to present Connect 2 Cleanrooms as both approachable and technical in nature. The brand appeals to those seeking simple solutions from a pre-designed range to more complex projects. The best bit – Connect 2 Cleanrooms can offer a one-stop shop from design, build, maintenance, and consumables.

The identity uses a limited colour palette and the language is deliberately human. No jargon, no word salads, no overwhelming technical language – unless it’s absolutely necessary.

We rewrote the company’s values and strapline – moving from a grand statement to a simple strapline that describes precisely what Connect 2 Cleanrooms offers.

Brand Identity

We aimed to stand out in the sector with a bold new look. Breaking away from the typical blue used by competitors, Connect 2 Cleanroom’s identity supports the brand’s new direction and showcases it as a market disruptor.

The colour palette nods to the company’s heritage whilst setting it apart from competitors by defying industry norms. The result pairs our new colourway against a minimal, clean and human-centric aesthetic to reflect the environment Connect 2 Cleanrooms creates.

Website

We created a brand new, bespoke website, incorporating our unique page builder functionality into WordPress. The website gives Connect 2 Cleanrooms the flexibility to create and edit existing pages, as well as develop landing pages for future campaigns.

Key functionality includes a knowledge base and glossary of terms, service pages, news and blog, live chat, and lead generation forms that integrate into HubSpot so Connect 2 Cleanrooms can enhance business development and track leads.


Outcomes

As a result of our work to reposition and relaunch the brand, Connect 2 Cleanrooms has seen an increase in the number and quality of leads. It has also led to an extension of our partnership as we continue to support with design and strategic marketing services.
